Laboratory Confirmed COVID19 Cases in Central Visayas, January 31—MAY 27, 2020
A. Epidemiologic Curve
On January 31, 2020 a Chinese national tourist was admitted at ACE Medical Center, Bohol. On January to February 2020, community contact tracing was conducted in Bohol and Negros Oriental. On March 06, 2020, Negros Oriental reported their first confirmed COVID19 case. On March 13, 2020 Cebu City reported their first confirmed COVID19 case. On April 20, 2020, Cebu City Jail, conducted swabbing activities among PDL and jail personnel. Cases peaked on April 30, 2020 when Cebu City Health Office conducted community contact tracing with simultaneous PCR testing (Figure 1).
B. Distribution of cases by Province/Highly Urbanized Cities (HUC)
A total of 2,588 Laboratory - Confirmed COVID19 cases with 55 deaths (CFR 2.1%) has been reported in Central Visayas from January 16 to May 26, 2020. The province with the highest number of confirmed cases were from Cebu (139, 5.3%). Among the HUCs, Cebu City has the highest (2111, 81.6% ) COVID19 confirmed cases (Figure 2).

A total of 2,554 Laboratory - Confirmed COVID19 cases with 53 deaths (CFR 2%) has been reported in Central Visayas from January 16 to May 26, 2020. The province with the highest number of confirmed cases were from Cebu (137, 5.36%). Among the HUCs, Cebu City has the highest (2086, 81.68% ) COVID19 confirmed cases (Figure 2).

FORTY FOUR (44) NEW CASES, TOTAL COVID-19 CASES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS AT TWO THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED SEVENTY SIX (2,376). TWO (2) NEW DEATHS RECORDED, TOTAL DEATHS NOW AT FORTY SEVEN (47).
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) through the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory (VSMMC SNL) has released as of 5:00 pm on 23 May 2020, one hundred ten (110) test results. A total of fifteen (15) positive results, two (2) of which were repeat tests of previously confirmed cases, were reported.
The DOH CVCHD-operated Cebu TB Reference Laboratory Molecular Facility for COVID-19 Testing (CTRL-MFCT) released two hundred fifty six (256) results, twenty nine (29) of which were positive for COVID-19. However, twenty two (22) of the positive results were a repeat test of a previously confirmed case.
The fifteen (15) new cases from VSMMC- SNL and twenty nine (29) new cases from CTRL-MFTC have increased the total COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas to two thousand, three hundred seventy six (2,376). These cases are from Cebu City (20), Cebu Province (19), Mandaue City (2), and Lapu-Lapu City (3).
There are two (2) new deaths reported. One (1) death is from Cebu City, a fifty-three (53) old male, who died due to septic shock secondary to COVID-19. The other death is from Cebu Province, sixty nine (69) year old male. Details of the reported deaths still have to be validated.

THIRTY FIVE (35) NEW CASES, TOTAL COVID-19 CASES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS AT TWO THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED THIRTY TWO (2,332). TOTAL LABORATORY NEGATIVE INCREASED TO ONE HUNDRED FIFTY ONE (151). TWO (2) NEW DEATHS RECORDED, TOTAL DEATHS NOW AT FORTY FIVE (45).
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) through the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory (VSMMC SNL) has released as of 5:00 pm on 22 May 2020, one hundred seventy nine (179) test results. A total of thirty (30) positive results, five (5) of which were repeat tests of previously confirmed cases, were reported.
The DOH CVCHD-operated Cebu TB Reference Laboratory Molecular Facility for COVID-19 Testing (CTRL-MFCT) released three hundred seven (307) results, seven (7) of which were positive for COVID-19. However, one (1) of the positive results was a repeat test of a previously confirmed case.
Allegiant Regional Care Hospital (ARC) in Lapu-Lapu City, a privately owned accredited COVID Testing Center, has released forty (40) test results having five (5) positive results , of which one (1) being a repeat test of a previously confirmed case.
The twenty five (25) new cases from VSMMC- SNL, six (6) new cases from CTRL-MFTC and four (4) new cases from ARC have increased the total COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas to two thousand, three hundred thirty two (2,332). These cases are from Cebu City (17), Cebu Province (9), Mandaue City (1), and Lapu-Lapu City (8).
