Kumusta Po Mahal Kong Kababayan | Meeting on COVID-19 Concerns and Talk to the People on COVID-19
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte presides over a meeting with several Cabinet members in Davao City on December 21, 2020.
The President expresses his indignation on the viral video of a policeman killing a mother and son in Paniqui, Tarlac. He stresses that the administration does not condone such acts of senseless killings by uniformed personnel and promises that justice shall be served to the family of the victims.
As the holiday celebration draws near, President Duterte conveys his profound Christmas greetings to the Filipino people within the nation and around the world. He also lifts the spirit of his countrymen as the challenging year of 2020 comes to a close, citing that faith and determination are the keys to overcoming difficulties that lie ahead.
At the same time, the Chief Executive issues a stern warning that complacency or stubbornness could harm everyone if safety protocols at home and in public places will not be practiced. He reminds his ‘kababayans’ to be in the best of shape, maintain good health and stay safe from the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) during the Christmas season.
Likewise, President Duterte discourages the use of firecrackers during the holidays, especially those bought without proper packaging from questionable manufacturers, as it causes major injuries or even deaths to children and adults alike. He emphasizes that public health should be prioritized instead of losing limbs or losing lives.
Furthermore, he urges the local government officials to ensure compliance of the latest guidelines on safety and quarantine protocols issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) down to the barangay level.
