TOTAL COVID-19 CASES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS AT TWO THOUSAND NINETEEN (2,019). TOTAL LABORATORY NEGATIVE NOW AT ONE HUNDRED SIX (106) AND TOTAL DEATHS INCREASE TO TWENTY-NINE (29).
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development reports the following COVID-19 cases through Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC- SNL), Cebu TB Reference Laboratory Molecular Facility for COVID-19 Testing (CTRL-MFCT) and a privately owned accredited COVID Testing Center, Allegiant Regional Care Hospital (ARC) in Lapu-Lapu City. The case fatality rate or the percentage of deaths among those who are infected with COVID-19 is at 1.44%. It is still lower compared to the global average of 6.8%.
VSMMC-SNL has released as of 5:00 pm on May 17, 2020, sixty-nine (69) test results, eight (8) of which are positive and sixty-one (61) results are negative.

(Update for 13 MAY 2020 RESULTS)
NINETEEN (19) NEW COVID-19 CASES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS, TOTAL CASES AT ONE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED FIFTY-SEVEN (1,957). REPORTED DEATHS INCREASE TO TWENTY EIGHT (28).
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) through the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory (VSMMC SNL) has released as of 5:00 pm on 13 May 2020, two hundred sixty six (266) test results. There was a total of twenty (20) positive results, four (4) of which are repeat tests of previously confirmed cases.
The DOH CVCHD - operated Cebu TB Reference Laboratory Molecular Facility for COVID-19 Testing (CTRL-MFCT) tested and released sixty three (63) results, four (4) of which are positive for COVID-19. However, one (1) of the positive results was a repeat test of a previously confirmed case.
The sixteen (16) new positive cases from VSMMC-SNL and the three (3) new cases from the CTRL-MFCT have increased the total COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas to one thousand nine hundred fifty-seven (1,957). These cases are from Cebu City (15), Cebu Province (3) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Mandaue City (1).
The additional confirmed cases and death have slightly increased the case fatality rate or the percentage of deaths among those who are infected with COVID-19, from 1.39% to 1.43%. It is still lower compared to the global average of 6.4%.

(Update for 11 MAY 2020 RESULTS)
ONE HUNDRED ONE (101) NEW COVID-19 CASES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS, TOTAL CASES AT ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED EIGHTY-NINE (1,889). RECORDED DEATHS INCREASE TO TWENTY-SEVEN (27).
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) through the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory (VSMMC SNL) has released as of 5:00pm on 11May 2020, five hundred forty-three (543) test results. There was a total of one hundred twenty-one (121) positive results, twenty (20) of which are repeat tests of previously confirmed cases.
The DOH CVCHD - operated Cebu Tb Reference Laboratory Molecular Facility for COVID-19 Testing (CTRL-MFCT) tested and released forty (40) results, all of which were negative for COVID-19.
The one hundred one (101) positive cases from VSMMC-SNL has increased the total COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas to one thousand eight hundred eighty-nine (1,889). These cases are from Cebu City (92), Cebu province (1) and Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (8)
There was one additional recorded death for 11 May, a sixty-three (63) year-old female who was admitted in a government facility but had died. We are still awaiting for the details of her immediate cause of death. The one (1) year old infant who died upon arrival in a government hospital who was mentioned in yesterday’s press release had been assessed to have died of severe dehydration. He was a resident of one of the barangays in Cebu City with large numbers of COVID-19 cases which prompted the testing which had a positive result. He did not manifest any respiratory symptoms prior to his death. He had fever for five (5) days and diarrhea for four (4) days with loss of appetite prior to admission in the hospital. He was brought to the hospital and upon arrival in the emergency room, no heart beat and no breathing noted. We join the family of those who died in praying for their eternal rest.

FIFTY (50) NEW COVID-19 CASES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS, TOTAL CASES AT ONE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED THIRTY-NINE (1,939). RECORDED LABORATORY NEGATIVE INCREASE TO NINETY-TWO (92). DEATHS REMAIN AT TWENTY-SEVEN (27).
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) through the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory (VSMMC SNL) has released as of 5:00 pm on 12 May 2020, three hundred ninety-seven (397) test results. There was a total of forty-six (46) positive results, four (4) of which are repeat tests of previously confirmed cases.
The DOH CVCHD - operated Cebu TB Reference Laboratory Molecular Facility for COVID-19 Testing (CTRL-MFCT) tested and released forty-two (42) results, nine (9) of which were positive for COVID-19. However, one (1) of the positive results was a repeat test of a previously confirmed case.
The forty-two (42) new positive cases from VSMMC-SNL and the eight (8) new cases from the CTRL-MFCT have increased the total COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas to one thousand nine hundred thirty-nine (1,939). These cases are from Cebu City (39), Lapu-Lapu City (6), Mandaue City (1) and Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (4).
We recorded additional twenty-two (22) previously confirmed cases that have now become negative for COVID-19. One of the laboratory negative is a health care worker who got infected while caring for a COVID-19 confirmed case. Currently, there are now two (2) health workers who have cleared the virus in their system. Cebu Province also recorded one (1) additional laboratory negative, bringing the total laboratory negative to three (3). The other twenty (20) laboratory negative are residents of Sitio Zapatera, Brangay Luz. We expect an increase in the number of laboratory negative as the barangays that have been on lockdown and the infected residents finish their mandatory quarantine for fourteen (14) days.

ONE HUNDRED FOUR (104) NEW COVID-19 CASES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS, TOTAL CASES AT ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-NINE (1,789). LABORATORY NEGATIVE OF PREVIOUSLY POSITIVE CASES INCREASE TO FORTY-SIX (46). RECORDED DEATHS INCREASE TO TWENTY-SIX (26).
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) through the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center Sub-National Laboratory (VSMMC SNL) has released as of 5:00 pm on 10 May 2020, six hundred sixty-three (663) test results; one hundred twelve (112) of which are positive results, with eight (8) being repeat tests of previously confirmed cases.
The one hundred four (104) positive cases has increased the total COVID-19 cases in Central Visayas to one thousand seven hundred eighty-nine (1,789). These are from Cebu City (97), Cebu province (5) and Lapu-Lapu City (2).
There are three (3) additional laboratory negatives from previously confirmed positive cases. Two (2) of them are from Mandaue City and one (1) is from Lapu-Lapu City.
Additional deaths are added into the regional numbers today. Two (2) of the deaths are residents of Cebu City and one (1) is from the province of Cebu. One of the deaths recorded is a one year old male infant who was declared dead on arrival in a government hospital in Cebu City. We are still getting the details of the final causes of death from the hospitals where they were admitted or the city where they died.
